Why Philip Pullman became a writer.

When he was very young. He used to tell stories to his friends and his younger brother, and then he began to write them down. They weren't very good at first but then as he got older his storys improved. 

Philip Pullman may have been brilliant at telling  stories when he was young, but his hand writing was not as good. This was a huge weakness Philip Pullman had but he managed after a while to write clearly enough for the eye to read. 

Disadvantage

People persuading him.

One of the main things that made Philip Pullman become a write was his family, freinds and the other teachers at Exeter college.
 

All the people that knew Philip Pullman persuded him endlessly to become a writer
and do what he has allways wanted to do.
Philip Pullman was a bit negative of his work
and never thought that he could become a  very famous writer.
